An exciting opportunity has arisen within Bury Council’s Property and Asset Management section for an enthusiastic general practice Surveyor to join the team.

The successful candidate will undertake an interesting, varied and challenging workload including property portfolio management, acquisition and disposals of land and buildings, valuations for a variety of purposes including Right to Buys the provision of property advice to a range of ‘client’ departments within the Council and assisting with taking forward a range of development and regeneration opportunities in the borough.

You will be RICS qualified and will need to be a team worker, willing to operate both under instruction and using your own initiative.

Principal Urban Surveyor

A vacancy has arisen for a proactive property professional with a “can do attitude”.

Our team of 16 in the Cambridge office handle an interesting and varied caseload across a varied operational property portfolio comprising over 750 assets with a combined value of £0.9bn. The portfolio offers the chance to be involved in exciting and innovative projects ensuring the best management of existing property assets to support service provision, driving efficiencies and providing opportunities for capital and revenue returns.

We are looking for a Principal Surveyor to work in a team of 4 general practice/commercial surveyors dealing with sales, acquisitions, valuations and landlord and tenant work.

You should be a qualified property professional with experience in the public or private sectors and have a strong commercial focus. The job is interesting, challenging and offers considerable autonomy, responsibility and opportunities for career development and progression.

Head of Strategic Asset Management

We are looking to appoint a dynamic senior leader to direct and drive the strategic management of the council’s property portfolio and the management of the Council’s investment and non-operational asset properties.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape the direction and effectiveness of the council’s strategic asset management plan; ensure we leverage our assets; provide robust integrated public services, working closely with Greater Manchester Combined Authority and a wide range of other public/ private sector partners to determine and deliver the best use of Council assets and the delivery of public sector services to best support ongoing change within the City and the needs of its citizens.

You will have extensive knowledge and experience and a demonstrable track record in dealing with complex strategic property portfolios and issues and the ability to maximise funding opportunities to assist in the delivery of the Councils objectives. You will be an excellent and proactive leader with demonstrable people management skills with the ability to think strategically and act practically and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally.

Qualifications
You will, ideally, be technically qualified to degree level and be professionally qualified from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS- General Practice Division) or equivalent with an extensive practical application of knowledge post professional qualification.
