The role

You’re recently qualified or part qualified and working towards full RICS qualification (or equivalent experience), with experience delivering results in an operational environment. Ideally, you’ll have a good working knowledge of a professional estates service and it would be advantageous if you’ve an understanding of compensation and land acquisition, estate management (including landlord and tenant) or valuation. 

A credible and enthusiastic communicator with good networking skills, you’ve no problem building strong relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.  You’re a motivated team player, able to think on your feet and prioritise your work effectively.

The role

You will hold an appropriate RICS qualification (including AssocRICS), and have relevant land and property experience with a proven track record of delivering results in an operational environment.  Your experience will include managing a diverse land and property portfolio, including property management, valuation and dealing with landlord and tenant issues to provide sustainable use and deliver best practice.  

You’ll also have a good understanding of planning, property and compensation legislation and of compulsory purchase procedures.  You’ll be able to provide advice on land and compensation matters to minimise project risk and compensation liabilities.  As a confident negotiator, you will be able to secure access and appropriate interests, along with settling compensation claims.  With an up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and best practice, you’re able to support other members of your team and provide advice on surveying matters. 

You’re a credible and enthusiastic communicator with good networking skills, building strong networks and influencing a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders for the effective resolution of issues.  

You will be adept at balancing and prioritising a varied workload ensuring that tasks are achieved.

Senior Estates Surveyor

The role
As a Senior Estates Surveyor you will take a lead role in the Estates Team: you will be a role model to the Assistant Surveyors and Estates Surveyors who you work with.  Whilst working in this role, you will be involved in a wide variety of surveying work, which will keep your days varied and interesting, enabling you to use your knowledge and experience you gained through your career.  

There will be opportunities for you to develop yourself further as you take a leading role in managing and delivering some major projects.  You will take a lead on delivering land entry and acquisition and will also deal with all aspects of estate management including leases and disposals.  

If you are interested in people management, there will be opportunities for you manage a small team of surveyors, experience in this area is not essential.  You will mentor other team members, particularly those progressing towards full RICS membership.

You’ll be expected to travel to visit remote field sites around your work area and some national travel, so you’ll need a full UK driving licence. The salary package for this role includes a lease car.  Some overnight stays for meetings may be necessary.

About you

As an experienced chartered Surveyor, you will be RICS qualified and have a proven track record of delivering results in an operational environment.  You will also have experience of negotiation and dispute resolution with landowners and occupiers.  Broad project management experience would be useful, and if you can demonstrate how you’ve supported major capital projects, even better. Balancing varied workloads in a busy working environment will be second nature to you.  Credible, knowledgeable and influential, you’re a confident communicator with good networking, negotiation and dispute resolution skills. With up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and best practice, you’re able to provide specialist advice to senior managers, external partners, property owners and tenants.  You will have the ability to identify and implement areas of best practice.

Your role as Estates Building Surveyor will include;

  • Managing void works and minor refurbishment projects – preparing specifications, assessing tenders and monitoring the works.
  • Acting as liaison with specialist contractors.
  • Overseeing responsive repairs and statutory inspections service, ensuring it meets KPIs and delivers a safe and value for money service.
  • Preparing planned and cyclical maintenance schedules

An opportunity has arisen within the organisation’s Property function which provides a broad range of property support through a small team of chartered property surveyors.

We are looking for a property professional to provide specialist support and advice on the primary and community care estate to Health Boards in Wales.

You will take the lead in project managing primary and community care development activities (including capital and third-party primary care developments along with improvement grant schemes) throughout Wales together with providing support on wider estate and property management issues relating to the primary and community care estate.

To fulfil this role you will be a chartered member of a relevant estates-related professional institution/organisation (e.g. RICS, CIOB, RIBA etc.) with detailed knowledge and experience of development and refurbishment schemes.
