Estates Manager

Lancashire County Council is looking for an experienced Estates Manager, to work with the Head of Service and Senior Management  to deliver a high quality service.

As a Chartered Surveyor MRICS/FRICS with substantial post qualification experience in managing a team of surveyors and providing senior technical advice to colleagues/clients.

We can offer you an exceptionally interesting and varied workload, through which you will have opportunity to influence service delivery and work collaboratively  across the fourth largest county council in the country.

The successful candidate should be adaptable, have excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and motivate at senior levels.

The Estates Service, is separated into three teams;

  • undertaking estates management for the County Councils large service portfolio (including business parks in Leyland and Lancaster),
  • disposals of land and property interests,
  • work on transport schemes including those with the City Deal involving the acquisition/compulsory purchase of interests for major highway schemes.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced chartered surveyor to deal with a broad range of residential focussed valuation, development and surveying work. 

The council has an excellent track record having invested £58m in the last 10 years in the delivery of new housing and this post plays a key role building on this success working with colleagues to deliver at least 100 new dwellings per annum through a variety of projects and schemes.   You will be out of the office on a regular basis identifying and acquiring new sites, working in partnership with developers and landowners negotiating the terms for acquisitions and development agreements involving mixed tenure schemes.

Working within a friendly and commercially focussed team, you will have excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and time management skills. You will undertake your own case work and will be responsible for the management of a small team of professional staff dealing with red book valuations; financial viability appraisals; Section 106 and other purchases plus the disposal of surplus residential land and property.

Gravesham Borough Council is seeking an experienced surveyor to join the Property Department.  The successful candidate will enjoy a varied workload which will include all aspects of commercial property management and advising on major projects.

The postholder will be expected to have a minimum of five years’ post RICS qualification experience and either be or be eligible to join the RICS Valuers’ Registration Scheme.  Experience of commercial property management and valuations is essential as are excellent negotiating, influencing and communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, within deadlines and to procedures.
